Interconnect Devices, Inc. (IDI) makes spring-loaded contact probes used in automated test equipment (ATE), as well as semiconductor test probes and sockets. A sister company, Synergetix, makes connectors, sockets, and interfaces used by manufacturers in aerospace, ATE, automobiles, medical equipment, telecommunications, and portable electronics. Synergetix was established in 1994 and constitutes the company's brand name for IDI's test and measurement equipment. IDI was founded in 1979 and was owned by Milestone Partners, a private equity firm. In 2010 Smiths Group acquired IDI for $185 million in cash.
