Society of Manufacturing Engineers

The Society of Manufacturing Engineer (SME) has members in more than 70 countries. The society provides manufacturing engineers and executives with ongoing information on new and improved technologies, as well as professional-development resources. It also organizes expositions and other industry-related events and publishes the monthly magazine Manufacturing Engineering, along with a number of peer-reviewed journals and research publications. SME was founded by 33 original members in 1932 as The Society of Tool Engineers. It adopted its current name in 1969.
