French Gerleman distributes automation, electrical, datacom, safety products, and power transmission equipment through five branches in Illinois, Kansas, and Missouri. Customers are served in the industrial, commercial, and construction markets. French Gerleman Supply & Service Center handles most of the distribution business, while IT products go through Applied Group (its Applied Technologies and Applied Information Systems subsidiaries). The company was founded in 1914 by Albert French, great-grandfather of president Bill French, and is owned by the French family.
