Wanna play FTSE? FTSE (pronounced footsie) Group partners with some 15 stock exchanges and several financial firms to create and manage an assortment of indices and affiliated services. It caters to pension plan sponsors, brokers, investment banks, and fund managers in more than 80 countries across the globe. FTSE calculates some 120,000 indices daily; its most notable is the FTSE All-World Index and the FTSE 100 Index. Investors use FTSE’s indices as a road map for investment analysis, asset allocation, and a measure on performance. It was established in 1995 as a joint venture between the Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange. LSE acquired the 50% stake it didn’t already own from Pearson in late 2011.
