The U.S. Soccer Federation knows how its members like to get their kicks. The organization is the governing body for the sport of soccer (known around the world as football) in the United States. It promotes the game and organizes both recreational and professional competition, overseeing such leagues as Major League Soccer, United Soccer Leagues, and Women’s Professional Soccer. U.S. Soccer hosts World Cups and Olympic soccer and runs the National Soccer Training Center. The federation is a member of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world soccer governing body. The organization was founded in 1914 as the U.S. Football Association.
